Covell Cross

The present day cross was designed by Austin and Paley and erected in 1903 to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VII in 1902. It marks the site of an ancient cross, and is named after Thomas Covell, a former owner of the Judges’ Lodgings and Keeper of Lancaster Castle.
