Tradition has it that 76 Church Street is the 18thC townhouse where Bonnie Prince Charlie and his army officers are reputed to have stayed during the 1745 Jacobite Uprising. Whilst the officers may, indeed, have stayed there, it is more likely that the Prince lodged with Mrs Livesey higher up Church Street. The house can only be viewed during special guided tours.
