Disability Access Rating
Throughout Britain, the Tourist Boards are inspecting all types of places to stay on holiday or business that provide accessible accommodation for wheelchair users and others who may have difficulty walking.
The Tourist Boards recognise three categories of accessibility:
Category 1 - Accessible to all wheelchair users including those travelling independently
Category 2 - Accessible to a wheelchair user with assistance
Category 3 - Accessible to a wheelchair user able to walk short distances and up at least three steps.
Notes:
If you have additional needs or special requirements of any kind, we strongly recommend that you make sure these can be met by chosen establishment before you confirm your booking. The criteria the Tourist Boards have adopted do not necessarily conform to British Standards or to Building Regulations. They reflect what the Boards understand to be acceptable to meet the needs of wheelchair users. The National Accessible Scheme forms part of the Tourism for All campaign that is being promoted by all three National Tourist Boards.
