Lancaster's past comes to life through its castle and museums, where you can explore the history of the city - from its grim stories of witches and murderers to its rich industrial and cultural history.
Stroll through the pedestrianised city centre, browsing in boutique shops and high street stores, and stop off for coffee and cakes at one of the popular coffee shops or out-of-the-way cafés.
A walk along St George's Quay will blow away the cobwebs - stop in at the Maritime Museum to explore Lancaster's maritime history - there are plenty of hands-on exhibits for the kids!
Up the hill lies Williamson Park with its Butterfly House and Ashton Memorial - the green-domed folly is visible from many points in and around Lancaster.
Lancaster's nightlife buzzes with live music, contemporary theatre and film, and delicious food and drink. Stay a while in one of the modern hotels or boutique guest houses and enjoy all there is to experience!
