Carnforth

Carnforth will forever be famous for being the film location for the David Lean's classic film 'Brief Encounter'. Visit Carnforth Station where a fascinating Visitor Centre and a recreation of the tea rooms seen in Brief Encounter (serving tasty food at reasonable prices) will offer a romantic taste of days gone by.

Stroll through the compact but welcoming town centre which offers high street shops and cafés, plus a well-established bookshop offering new, classic, second hand and rare books.

Carnforth makes an ideal base for a tour of the immediate area and a gateway to places further afield like Lancaster and the Lake District. Warton Crag, ideal for hiking, climbing and abseiling, is nearby, or explore the picturesque villages of Milnthorpe, Warton, Silverdale and Arnside.
