Lancaster

Exploring Lancaster, a vibrant city rich in cultural heritage.

The historic city of Lancaster is a small, vibrant university city, and rich in cultural heritage. It offers a rich past, historic trails to explore and a very warm welcome.

Be it theatre or football, nautical heritage or architecture, our district can provide the perfect setting to experience and enjoy our cultural attractions.

Lancaster is a fantastic place for cycling and is proud of its extensive cycling network. There are plenty of rides – mainly using off-road facilities – to take you directly from the bustling heart of the city straight into our fantastic countryside and coast.

Lancaster University and the newly formed University of Cumbria (St Martins College) are both seen as very much part of this historic city.

Stroll through the pedestrianised city centre, browsing in boutique shops and high street stores, and stop off for coffee and cakes at one of the popular coffee shops or out-of-the-way cafés hidden away down charming narrow lanes.

Stay a while in one of the modern hotels or boutique guest houses and enjoy all there is to experience!
