The Dukes is a regional theatre of national repute, producing their own professional in-house shows and hosting touring productions. Their annual summer outdoor production that promenades amongst the beautiful surroundings of Williamson Park is a must-see, and the theatre is also the main venue for the increasingly high profile Lancaster Literature Festival that features performance and workshops with top writers and poets.

Lancaster's Grand Theatre boasts a rich heritage, and this beautiful auditorium hosts a varied programme of concerts, comedy and theatre (including shows from the best local opera and theatre companies).
For the best in contemporary dance and performance the Nuffield Theatre at Lancaster University offers a programme featuring the leading touring companies in that field.
Also on campus, the Lancaster International Concert Series welcomes a variety of major international orchestras and artists.
In Morecambe, The Platform is a wonderfully flexible performance space (skilfully converted from the old railway station), and together with The Dome attracts a huge variety of top names across the entertainment spectrum - from world, folk and rock music to children's theatre, touring shows and top-flight comedians.
Finally back at The Dukes in Lancaster, this is the area's independent cinema, envy of the county and features a fabulous programme of art-house, popular and cult films.
