Lancaster University and the newly formed University of Cumbria (St Martins College) are both seen as very much part of this historic city.
Make sure one of the first things you do when studying in Lancaster (apart from joining many different clubs at the fresher fair!) is to pop into Lancaster Tourist Information Centre on Castle Hill.
They can help you make the most of time spent in the district and ensure you don't to miss out on exploring this fantastic part of this country.
Lancaster TIC are also useful for when you wish to book accommodation for visiting family & friends. Also try and remember that local accommodation is always in high demand around Graduation time, so try to book in advance.
If you are studying in Lancaster - A must is to visit Lancaster Castle (for a guided tour) and the Ashton Memorial in Williamson Park. The views from the Ashton Memorial give fantastic views of Morecambe Bay, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland which will definitely inspire you to explore further a field! Again Lancaster TIC can help you with travelling around and will give you a host of ideas for places to visit inside and out of our district.
You can download our Lancaster attractions and street map at the bottom of this page to help you find your way around Lancaster.
Lancaster is the County town of Lancashire and there is no better way to explore the beautiful Lancashire countryside of the Forest of Bowland than by going on a Pendle Witches Tour. The tour will tell the tale of the Famous Pendle Witches which were imprisoned in Lancaster Castle in the 17th century.
